CANADA AND THE WORLD A teaching resource for decades
For more than 70 years, Canada and the World has been publishing materials on current events specifically designed for use by high school students. Our aim is to provide students with the facts they need to reach their own understanding of the complex world in which they live. We carry no advertising and receive no grants from any organization - political, faith-based, or corporate. Ours is, we hope, an entirely independent and intelligence voice.
Over the years, we have worked with: Alberta Education, Manitoba Education, the Toronto District School Board, the Calgary School Board, and many other education authorities in producing education support materials. But, don't just take our word for it. Here are a few unsolicited comments from subscribers: "Canada and the World is well designed for students and the choice of themes and subjects is very good. We catalogue each issue and placeit in the vertical file. The students use it a lot." Helen Allbright, Librarian, Alexander Mackenzie High School"The students do projects on topics you cover in courses on world issues, geography, and social studies. For some courses, we get class sets; the issue on water is used extensively. Canada and the World is an excellent resource." Deanne Macdonald, Librarian, St. Mary's Academy, Winnipeg
"Canada and the World is concise so the students are not overwhelmed with information." Tony Martino, Social Studies Teacher, Archbishop Jordan High School, Edmonton
"Canada and the World Backgrounders are marvellous for our entire student body. An ideal starting point for examining issues with an outstanding Canadian perspective. I wish you published more issues." Beth Adams, Teacher/Librarian, West Humber Collegiate, Toronto
